One thing many parents-to-be always appreciate about Guangzhou Elizabeth Women’s Hospital is our amazing 4-D Ultrasound technology. Studies from the American Institute of Ultrasound suggest that 4D Ultrasounds are safe. There is nothing to equal it’s quality and clarity when it comes to the imaging of your baby, we are so excited to bring this to you.

In the past, parents-to-be weren’t able to see their baby’s face until the baby was born. Moms and dads could only see black and white images of their unborn child through a traditional 2D Ultrasound. With our state-of-the-art 4D Ultrasound, the movements of your unborn baby inside the womb can be seen with clarity that is difficult or impossible to achieve with 2D ultrasound.

What is the difference between 2D, 3D and 4D ultrasounds?
2D Ultrasound is the traditional method used for years. They provide flatter, two-dimensional, black and white images of your baby. 3D ultrasound is an advanced method which captures a true, three-dimensional image of your baby, often allowing the ability to see specific facial features and well-defined formation. 4D Ultrasound is an actual moving three-dimensional image of your baby in utero. Actions such as yawning, turning and even subtle movements can be seen. There have even been cases where parents-to-be watched as their child sucked their thumb and peacefully slept!

How Does The 4D Ultrasound Work?
Here is how the 4D Ultrasound helps create the image of your baby from inside the womb:
A device known as transducer is moved along your abdomen.
This will send the sound waves via your abdomen and through your uterus.
These sound waves will bounce off your baby in the form of echoes.
The monitor will pick up these echo messages and translate them on to the screen.
As your baby moves and kicks about, you will be able to see the images on the ultrasound screen.

Ultrasounds are also used to evaluate these parts of the body:
Vascular system
Heart
Abdominal organs (kidneys, liver, pancreas)
Pelvic region (to assess issues such as ectopic pregnancy)
Breast
Thyroid
Scrotum
Prostate
Joins/muscles
